Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that challenges usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of prohibited rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden group.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
